The NBA could revisit its timeline for expansion teams following the sale of the Boston Celtics for $6.1 billion on Thursday, according to Shams Charania of ESPN.
It was reported that the league was looking for the Celtics to sell for around the $6 billion mark to establish a baseline fee for expansion teams.
Bids for the Celtics prior to Thursday’s sale were coming in under $6 billion.
It could take 3-5 years from the start of the expansion process for a team to make its debut on the court.
