The New York Jets survived a major scare.
Justin Fields was carted off the field after sustaining a toe injury at training camp.
Initial reports feared a significant setback for the quarterback, as it was reported to be a non-contact lower-leg injury.
Fortunately, that wasn’t the case, as someone just stepped on his toe.
Now, it looks like he’s not going to miss any more time.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Fields is participating in 11-on-11 drills.

Fields is one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the NFL, so it’s not necessarily surprising to see him play through this type of injury.
More than that, he knows this might be his final shot to prove that he can be a starter in the league.
For the first time in his career, it looks like a team has fully committed to him and his skill set, building its offense around him and vowing to play to his strengths.
He’s never been a great pocket passer, but he’s productive as a runner, and the Jets are looking forward to fully unleashing that aspect of his game.
Of course, he still has plenty of things to clean up, but the Jets have offensive weapons that can make things easier for him.
A team never wants its starting quarterback to miss first-team reps, and it’s good to see that he didn’t need extended recovery time as he gets used to his new team and offensive system.
