Packers Made 2 Roster Moves On Monday

The Green Bay Packers have made their priorities clear as training camp progresses.

GM Brian Gutekunst refuses to let injuries dictate the depth chart, and Monday’s roster moves reflected that philosophy perfectly.

The team addressed secondary concerns by bringing back a veteran defender while releasing a newer addition.

The decision signals how seriously Green Bay takes depth heading into preseason action.

“Packers re-sign Corey Ballentine, cut Gregory Junior,” KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson reported.

Ballentine returns to Green Bay after three productive seasons with the organization.

The 29-year-old cornerback appeared in 37 regular-season games and three playoff contests during his previous stint.

Last season proved to be his best yet, recording career highs with 43 tackles and seven passes defensed while starting six games.

The timing makes sense given current roster issues. Nate Hobbs remains sidelined with a knee injury while Kamal Hadden deals with hip problems.

Rookies Micah Robinson and Kalen King have yet to see NFL action, making veteran experience valuable.

Ballentine brings more than just playing time to the table. His familiarity with the system and proven ability as both a rotational defender and special teams contributor make him an immediate asset.

He will wear number 35 and slot right back into his previous role.

The Packers believe Ballentine can contribute at a high level once again.
