Giants Star Raises Eyebrows With Comments On Justin Fields

The New York Giants and New York Jets held joint practice sessions, creating an intense atmosphere where they could test themselves against their local rivals.

The practices offered valuable evaluation opportunities for each coaching staff as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Giants defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux emerged with some notable observations about Jets quarterback Justin Fields, and his eyebrow-raising assessment highlighted the challenges quarterbacks face when dealing with an elite pass rush.

“You know, it’s tough for quarterbacks right now, especially in practice. … [Fields] was under a little bit of pressure, so I can’t really give you a full analysis on what I think of him as a quarterback because he did have to run and scramble and do a lot of things. So, yeah, you guys have to probably take a look at that on your own,” Thibodeaux said, via Paul Andrew Esden Jr.

The Giants defense made its presence felt throughout both practice sessions.

Fields found himself under constant pressure from their front seven, forcing him to rely on his mobility to escape collapsing pockets.

While Fields showcased his athletic ability with several scrambles, the frequency raised questions about the Jets’ pass protection.

The offensive line struggled to provide a clean pocket consistently against the Giants’ aggressive rush.

Though Thibodeaux stopped short of direct criticism, his remarks suggested the Jets quarterback faced significant difficulties handling the pressure.

At best, the Jets identified areas needing improvement before their preseason game, as these practices served their purpose of providing intensity without the risks of actual competition.
