Robert Griffin III Names The Top-5 NFL Teams Right Now

With eight weeks of the NFL season now in the books, the year has almost reached its exact midway point, and enough football has been played to make some real judgments on teams across the league.

There doesn’t seem to be a clear favorite to win the Super Bowl championship right now, but there are a few teams that have thus far separated themselves from the pack.

Former quarterback Robert Griffin III listed his top five NFL teams on X (formerly Twitter), and he has the two-time defending world champion Kansas City Chiefs at the top of his ranking.

The Chiefs are the lone undefeated team remaining with a 7-0 record, and much like last season, they’re finding ways to win games even when they haven’t been playing well.

Five of their seven wins have come by seven points or fewer, and while quarterback Patrick Mahomes hasn’t been performing well and is tied for the most interceptions, he has been making big plays when needed — as usual.

The Detroit Lions are 6-1 and looking like the best team in the NFC right now, and thus they sit in the second spot of Griffin’s ranking.

The third team is a bit of a surprise — the Houston Texans, who are 6-2 but are without wide receivers Stefon Diggs, who is out for the year with a torn ACL, and Nico Collins.

The Baltimore Ravens, whose five-game winning streak just ended with a loss to the Cleveland Browns, are fourth, and the surprising Washington Commanders are fifth.

Washington is in first place in the NFC East with a 6-2 record after rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels’ Hail Mary touchdown pass to Noah Brown got them a win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday.
