The Chicago Bears have hit a couple of bumps midway through their season.
They have lost back-to-back games with one coming on a Hail Mary by the Washington Commanders and the other being a blowout in Arizona last Sunday.
Former Heisman winner and current Bears franchise quarterback Caleb Williams seems to be hitting a rookie wall at the moment.
In the last two weeks, he has completed less than 50% of his passes and is near the bottom of the league in overall completion percentage this season.
ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. joined ESPN Radio recently to talk about why he is not concerned for Williams.
“We’ve seen him look great…The rookies are going to have their ups and their downs,” Kiper said Wednesday morning.

Keep in mind too that Williams is going to be compared to what other rookie quarterbacks are doing.
So, when Jayden Daniels has his Commanders looking like Super Bowl contenders, Williams is going to get treated a little unfairly.
Situations are situational.
Kiper referenced how John Elway and Dan Marino started out as rookies.
Elway started slow but ended up becoming a multi-time champion while Marino did not.
Williams is only eight games into his NFL career and is currently on a team that might have the worst quarterback history in the league.
The fan base and other pundits need to be patient with him.
If he can find a way to overcome some of his mistakes, the Bears might be all the better for it down the line.
