Knicks Find Loophole In CBA To Complete Trade For Karl Anthony Towns

The Knicks found a loophole in the new CBA that allowed them to complete the trade for Karl-Anthony Towns, sources told Fred Katz of The Athletic.

Teams over the first apron of the tax are not allowed to aggregate multiple minimum contracts in a trade. To get around this constraint, the Knicks are paying Charlie Brown, DaQuan Jeffries and Duane Washington Jr. $1 over the minimum salary.

The Knicks sent the three players and two second-round picks to the Hornets in the deal. They also acquired the draft rights to James Nnaji from the Hornets.
